The National Automobile Transporters Association represents motor carriers that are engaged
in the transportation of motor vehicles, in both truckaway and driveaway service.
It was through the efforts of NATA that led to the nationwide allowance of seventy five foot
stinger steered equipment and the authorization to utilize retractable extensions. Once these
objectives were realized on the national level, NATA in working with state trucking associations,
ensured that the states complied.

NATA also was the overseeing entity that brought carriers and manufacturers together to create
common business practices that increased efficiency. From these efforts, the industry now utilizes
common damage codes for all auto manufacturers and was able to develop the plain paper multi vehicle
delivery receipt, thus eliminating the need for preprinted single vehicle delivery forms.
The NATA office is located in the American Trucking Associations building in Alexandria, Virginia.
The “new” NATA is more focused that ever on working from within the Capitol Beltway in order to ensure
that the auto transporter voice is heard with government.
